Meet Dr. Hayes, Chiropractor

Dr. John Hayes, Chiropractor completed studies at The New England Institute of Anatomy and attended the University of RI and Salve Regina College.  He is a 1979 Cum Laude graduate of Sherman College of Chiropracitc in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Following graduation he served as an intern at a large clinic in New Hampshire and opened his private office in Portland Maine in 1981. Shortly thereafter he began a course of studies at the National College of Chiropractic specializing in Chiropractic Orthopedics..

He received certification in orthopedics in 1986, and is a Diplomate American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedics. Dr. Hayes was elected President of the Maine Chiropractic Association in 1988 and served in that capacity until 1991. He has been on the postgraduate faculty of the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and instructed postgraduate programs in the treatment of the injured golfer and golf performance evaluations.

Dr. Hayes authored the book, The Clinical Chiropractic Assistant, a Para Professional in Adjunct  Therapy. He cofounded the Clinical Chiropractic Assistant certification program for the Maine Chiropractic Association in 1990 and continued to teach the program annually until 2016 when his daughter, Dr. Amber Hayes took over the duties of teaching.  Dr. Amber continues at the Hayes Chiropractic Center in Portland.  Dr. Hayes, Chiropractor,  is an avid golfer and a certified golf fitness instructor by the Titleist Performance Institute.

Dr. Hayes received a gubernatorial appointment in 1993 to the Board of Chiropractic Examiners.  He served on the board for three years.  He is a past member of the American Chiropractic Association serving as alternative delegate for many years, past member of the Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics and the Maine Chiropractic Association.  Is presently a member of the Chiropractor Society of Rhode Island.

Dr. Hayes and his wife Jan raised three daughters, one son and 4 grandchildren.
